Many people know the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At one point or another, they’ve been curious about it. They’ve been, as Pastor Crim said, passive observers and followers of religion. The observance of Holy week is, after all, a yearly thing for most of us. As with traditions, it can become very routinary, even dutiful. Here in the Philippines, people try to replicate the sacrifice that Jesus did on the cross – they literally get themselves nailed to the cross. Why? Is it devotion to Him, an act of penitence, or ignorance? And so, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus died for you. What does it really mean to you? That’s a question every truth seeker at heart should ask.
Resurrection – what does it mean to you?

I love that you have challenged us to leave behind traditions and peer deeper into our own hearts and decide what the cross means for us.
There’s the operative word: to decide what the cross means for us. Our pastor shared a very powerful message last Sunday. Some of us are mere spectators, knowing the death of Jesus through the observance of these traditions, and just ending there. Some are seekers —trying to find out more about Him. The others are committed —they’ve committed, they’ve decided to believe in what they have seen, in the Jesus they have sought after.
wow, thats some good stuff!
for me, i can’t see past the cross being the total loss of ME. its a place of death, commitment, submission, losing my life. the very things Jesus showed us by his life leading up to the cross, then finalized His words with action! (bearing the sin of the world)
